Thoughts on Year End 2020

What in your life is calling you,

When all the noise is silenced,

The meetings adjourned…

The lists laid aside,

And the Wild Iris blooms

By itself

In the dark forest…

What still pulls on your soul?

The year 2020….

It has felt to me all year that the questions above that Rumi asked, were the questions of the year 2020.  No matter what happened in your life during the past 10 months – whether it was quiet or chaotic (or both), the invitation in 2020 was to develop or hone clear vision – for yourself.

The big PAUSE happened last year (and continues) so that you could have the space to tune in to yourself, to pay attention more closely.  To listen more deeply.  We find the divine, your Self and pure Love in the spaces between your thoughts, between your activities, between your ‘do-ing” and thinking.  It is there that you will find the wisdom that you need to hear at the exact time that you hear it.

And you may have not spent your time in 2020 tuning in and learning more about what is “pulling on your soul”….of what your life is calling you to.

Yet these are the most important questions any of us can be with.

Two friends recently shared Rilke’s wisdom on living into the questions….

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue.  Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them.  And the point is, to live everything.  Live the questions now.  Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.” — Rainer Maria Rilke

What questions are you bringing forward into 2021?   What questions do you desire to “live into?” What is your soul longing for now?
